To keep things polished and chic, start with a color scheme based in inky black, then add touches of metallic gold, scarlet red, and some twinkling lights.
We created eerie-yet-elegant place settings with metallic chargers, gleaming gold flatware, shiny brass shot glasses, and our skeleton-printed Macabre and Cheese Plate Set.
Our striking centerpiece was made using a standard styrofoam hat form, which can be found at most large craft supply stores. To create more defined facial features, we used a black paint pen to draw brows, and then outlined the eyes and lips. Once dry, we set about spray painting -- but be careful!
Spray paint can literally melt styrofoam. We found the texture to be an interesting element, and held the can a bit closer to create a bumpy, borderline-scaly effect!
Of course, this sophisticated soireé wouldn't be complete without something scary-good to sip! Everyone knows and loves the classic Shirley Temple, which is simply made with lemon-lime soda and grenadine -- for a Halloween-worthy twist, we partially filled plastic prop syringes with the grenadine.
If you want to make this an adults-only beverage, just add a splash of flavored vodka or gin!
Last, but not least, we added some ambience by stringing copper-wired lights down the center of the table and through the centerpiece, and lighting a few candles (set on very-appropriate holders).
Finito! This boo-tiful tablescape is done, and ready to dazzle your dinner guests.
