A change in seasons usually feels like the right time to make other changes, too—like updating your space to fit your needs, and creating the perfect interiors you actually want to spend time in.
So as we approach the official start of autumn, we thought we’d help you get started with those changes by providing some design inspiration.
Like we do each week, we scrolled through hundreds of posts on Instagram to bring you the most liked, top-trending decor ideas, this time with a focus on the bedroom. Keep reading for some gorgeous and cozy ways to shake up your space—plus the inside scoop on how to steal the look.
1. Vintage bedside sconce
Much as we know we shouldn’t, some of us have still been using our beds as makeshift offices while we work from home. If you don’t have another workspace (or you just like working from bed, dammit!), then we say you do you, boo. Make your bedroom feel more like the office with these gorgeous bedside lights, featured by @industville.
“The vintage bedside sconce is not only functional, but it also provides a layer of interest to your bedroom,” says interior designer Dejon Gee, of LowCo. Wax & Gown. “We’re all spending a lot more time at home, and this trend reflects that. 2. Neutral linen bedding
Bright and bold bedding is great for the spring and summer months. But as we head into fall, we’re craving the simplicity of neutrals, like this linen bedding featured by @juudithhome.
“I love color and prints, but nothing says ‘stop overthinking and just relax’ like neutral bedding,” says Gee. “I think this trend feels right at this moment, because of all the handmade and homespun items we’ve seen over the last months.”
Linen is also very breathable, which will make you more comfortable while you sleep, Gee adds.

3. Trim accent wall
If your bedroom has been feeling like it needs a little design boost, you might just want to try a trim accent wall, like this one from @ahousewebuilt.
“A trim accent wall is not only something you can accomplish yourself in a weekend, but it’s a fantastic way to create an accent wall that doesn’t rely on art,” says designer and artist Emily Warkentin, of Point Two Design.
“If you’re looking to spruce up a small bedroom, adding framed art prints or canvases to the walls can sometimes make the room feel smaller,” she adds. “Instead, a full-size trim wall attracts the eye from floor to ceiling, making the room feel larger.”

4. Shelf desk
Remember that great all-in-one desk you had back in college? It’s back in style, but this time with a more minimalist and clean look—like this one from @jcdesign1.1.
“A leaning shelf desk is a fantastic option for renters and for those who like to rearrange their furniture often,” says Warkentin. “Whether you’re using a leaning shelf for the purposes of adding a small workspace into your room, for creating a small bar cart, or purely for decorative purposes, there’s one thing for sure: They offer a ton of flexibility while maintaining a light and airy aesthetic.”

5. Wraparound murals
Again, if finding and arranging the perfect artwork isn’t your thing, that doesn’t mean you have to live with plain walls. One bold solution is to try one of these wraparound murals featured by @iphepha.de.
“Wraparound murals might not be on your must-have list until you see all the possibilities,” says Gee, who notes that nature-inspired, organic themes are dominating right now.
“I think there’s a strong desire to turn our personal spaces into sanctuaries of peace, productivity, and comfort,” says Gee. “Plus it feels fun and personal, and elevates your bedroom without breaking the bank.”
