Family Recreates Favorite Photo As Moving Tribute To Dying Dog

It's a bittersweet reality that humans usually outlive their hounds, but this family faced the inevitable with grace and made sure their memories of their pup will live on forever via a touching tribute.

A Reddit user who posts as Weezabeeb, shared this image on the site, last Thursday, with a caption explaining, "We had to put my dog of 16 years down yesterday, but before we did we recreated our [favorite] photo with him."

The sisters took one of their most cherished photos featuring their pooch and recreated it, wearing similar clothes and sporting the same expressions.

The sweet homage resonated with lots of people and has since been viewed a whooping 1.8 million times.

Other tributes to a beloved pooches that moved us deeply was photographer Maria Sharp's decision to create a photo memorial of her dog, Chubby, during his final days, as well as one anonymous pup owner who left a box full of tennis balls on a pet-friendly beach so that other dogs could enjoy the toy that gave his buddy so much joy.

It’s all enough to make anyone -- dog or human -- let out a whimper.
