It’s that time of year when decor-savvy homeowners (and renters!) everywhere are paying attention to the latest design trends, and filling up their spaces with modern and contemporary decor that just screams new and improved.
But some intrepid homeowners are taking their inspiration from years past—at least according to Instagram. As we do every week, we look at what’s trending on the photo-sharing Goliath, this week with a focus on entryways.
It turns out, some not-so-2020 looks are really raking in the likes. And we can see why—all of the popular posts below have an antique charm that we can’t get enough of. Want to give your foyer the same treatment? Read on for details on where you can get these looks.
Refurbished curio cabinet
One of the easiest ways to give your entryway some of that modern farmhouse flair is with a refurbished curio cabinet like the one we see in this photo from @greybirchdesigns.
“A great example of form meets function,” says designer Doreen Amico-Sorell of Sorell Interiors. “Curio cabinets become even more appealing when they have some distressing to mark their character. If you’re a DYIer, some good choices can be found at tag or garage sales.”

Renaissance window mirror
Who says you need a big house to create a castle vibe? You can spice up your entryway to feel like an old-world, renaissance-style home by snagging a window-mirror like the one we see in this post from @thegatewayhome.
“Window mirrors are very popular and extremely versatile,” Amico-Sorell says. “With the various shapes, sizes, and finishes that can be found, the right combination can make an impact in any space—especially an entryway.”

Delicate demi-lune table
Another rustic-chic trend we fell in love with this week is this elegantly detailed demi-lune table featured by @seekinglavenderlane.
“Demi-lune tables have been around for a very long time because of their versatility to suit any design style,” says Amico-Sorell. “They not only provide interest, but beautify a space that’s not too large, making them the perfect piece for an entryway.”

Countryside stoneware vase sets
Vases have long been a staple of entryway design, but lately we’re seeing more and more sets than solo pieces, and these stoneware ones featured by @melissa_shapiro_interiors will make for the perfect tie-in with your other vintage-inspired decor.
“Using stoneware vases not only gives you the desirable tactile look of a handmade item, but they’re also a very functional decor piece for your entryway,” says Sara Ford, founder of Sara Ford Design. “Throw some flowers or branches from your garden into one, and use the other to store keys.”
Get the look: If you can’t find any vintage ones you like, do the next best thing and shop this collection of homemade stoneware vases on Etsy.
Tiered chandelier
Minimalism doesn’t have to be boring, as we can see from this lush design by @zoecorinne (reposted by @vivirdesign). Our favorite part? That tiered chandelier, which makes for a bold statement in the otherwise spare design.
“Provided that your ceiling is high enough, you can’t ever go wrong with a tiered chandelier in the entryway,” says Amico-Sorell. “No matter the style, it will add grace and beauty.”
